Pick up early this morning at Hotel in Yogyakarta and depart to Dieng Plateau, nearby Wonosobo in Central Java. The 4-hour drive will take you through local villages, rice fields and plantations, away from the bustling Yogyakarta city. Located at an altitude of 2000m, Dieng is a caldera complex formed by the eruption of Mount Prau and the name itself literally means “Abode of the Gods”. Upon arrival, explore the highland by visiting craters, lesser known lakes, and the early 8th century Hindu temples complex, built by Sanjaya Dynasty. Afterwards, drive to Magelang to visit Borobudur Temple, the world’s largest Buddhist temple, and both of its neighbouring temples, Mendut and Pawon. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant nearby. Return to Yogyakarta late this afternoon. (L)
